This ego power select cut self propelled mower review covers the EGO Power+ LM2150SP. It is a 56V cordless lawn mower that prioritizes customizable cutting and easy speed control. The two defining specs are its Select Cut XP system, which lets you swap lower blades for mulching, bagging, or high-lift performance, and its Touch Drive self-propulsion. This feature allows you to engage movement with a palm touch and adjust speed via a dial. These specifications create a versatile tool for homeowners who want to adapt their mowing style without changing batteries or switching machines.
What stands out
- Select Cut XP system with interchangeable lower blades for mulching, bagging, or extended runtime
- Touch Drive technology for palm-activated self-propulsion and dial-controlled speed adjustment

- 8 cutting height settings ranging from 1 to 4 inches
- 8.3 ft-lbs of cutting torque, exceeding typical gas mower performance
Who it fits
Good fit for
You should consider this mower if you want one machine to handle multiple grass disposal needs. The interchangeable blade system means you can mulch fine clippings, bag for a clean look, or use high-lift blades for thick grass without buying separate attachments. The Touch Drive self-propulsion is ideal for users who prefer precise speed control on varying terrain. It suits medium-sized lawns where the 21-inch deck width and 75-minute runtime provide ample coverage on a single charge.
Who should skip it
You should look at another option if you need a battery included. The listing specifies the battery and charger are available separately, so the base price does not cover power source. You might also skip this model if you prefer a fixed cutting height. While it offers eight positions, the range is limited to 1 to 4 inches. If you have a steep hill or need a lower cut for a manicured appearance, this deck height may not meet your specific landscaping requirements.
Verdict: The EGO Power+ LM2150SP is a versatile, spec-driven mower for users who value customizable cutting and intuitive speed control. Its interchangeable blade system and Touch Drive technology make it a practical choice for varied lawn maintenance tasks.
Key specs explained for EGO
Runtime: up to 75 min
This rating applies when using a 56V 10.0Ah battery. You get extended mowing time on a single charge. This helps you cover larger lawns without pausing to recharge. Compare this to models with lower amp-hour batteries that may only last 30 minutes. Ensure you check your battery capacity to match this potential runtime.
Voltage: 56V
This indicates the electrical pressure driving the motor. A 56V system generally provides more power than 40V models. You will see better performance when cutting thick or wet grass. This spec helps you gauge the mower's ability to handle resistance. Look for this voltage level when comparing mid-range cordless options in the market.
Drive Type: self-propelled
The mower moves forward on its own. You only need to guide it rather than push it. This reduces physical effort on hills or uneven terrain. Touch Drive technology lets you adjust speed with a dial. This feature benefits users who want a less strenuous mowing experience compared to push models.
Cutting Height: 1-4 in, 8 positions
You can adjust the deck height in eight distinct steps. The range spans from one to four inches. This allows you to customize the cut for different grass types or seasons. One hand operation makes adjustments quick and easy. This versatility helps you maintain a consistent lawn height throughout the growing season.
Design and build details
The EGO Power+ LM2150SP lists a black finish with a foldable frame. According to the listing, the unit measures 66 inches in length, 23.2 inches in width, and 39 inches in height. It weighs 55.6 pounds. The compact fold design means you can store it in tight spaces like a garage corner or shed. The weight suggests you can lift it for transport, but the self-propelled drive handles the effort on the lawn.
Controls focus on simplicity and accessibility. You engage the self-propelled function with a touch of your palm. Speed changes via a dial located at your fingertips. This layout allows you to adjust pace without stopping. The deck height adjusts with one hand across eight settings from 1 to 4 inches. This manual adjustment keeps the mechanism simple and reliable.
The mower includes an LED headlight and carries an IPX4 weather resistance rating. These specs indicate it can handle light rain and low-light conditions. The push-button start removes the hassle of pull cords. The overall design prioritizes ease of use and storage efficiency. You get a straightforward interface that does not rely on complex digital displays or apps. The build supports practical daily mowing tasks without unnecessary features.
Setup and daily operation details
You begin setup by attaching a 56V battery and charger, which are sold separately. The listing confirms compatibility with all EGO 56V ARC Lithium batteries. You select your preferred lower blade for the Select Cut system. Options include mulching, high-lift bagging, or extended runtime blades. This choice determines your mowing function. You also attach the included two-bushel grass bag if you choose side discharge or bagging. The push-button start engages the motor instantly. There is no pull cord or gas mix to manage.
Daily use relies on the Touch Drive self-propelled technology. You engage forward motion with a simple palm touch. Adjusting speed involves scrolling a dial located near your hand. This allows you to change pace without stopping or bending down. The deck height offers eight settings, ranging from 1 to 4 inches. You adjust these positions with one hand. The unit weighs 55.6 pounds, making it manageable for transport. Its IPX4 weather resistance rating suggests it can handle light rain during operation. LED headlights provide visibility in low-light conditions. The foldable design aids in storage when the job is done. You simply lift the handle to collapse the frame. This process keeps the mower secure and out of the way until your next mowing session.
Check Battery Compatibility First
Before you finalize this purchase, verify your existing EGO battery inventory. The listing specifies compatibility with all 56V ARC Lithium batteries, but you must own a compatible unit to operate the mower. Check your current battery’s amp-hour rating. A 10.0Ah battery provides the listed 75 minutes of runtime. Lower capacity batteries will reduce your mowing window significantly. You also need to ensure you have a charger. The product data confirms the battery and charger are sold separately. Plan your workflow around charging times. If you lack spare batteries, consider purchasing an additional pack to avoid downtime. This mower fits well into an existing EGO ecosystem. It offers self-propelled convenience and customizable cutting options. However, it requires upfront investment in power sources. Compare its self-propelled drive and Select Cut system against other 1 options in this guide. Ensure your lawn size matches the runtime capabilities of your chosen battery configuration.
Check before you buy
- Verify you own a 56V EGO battery
