Side-by-Side EGO Trimmer Specs
Shaft Design
Product A features a fixed-length shaft that measures 71.7 inches in length and weighs 7.4 pounds. This design offers a consistent reach without moving parts. Product B uses a telescopic aluminum shaft that adjusts for comfort and ease of use. It measures 64.9 inches in length and also weighs 7.4 pounds. The adjustable shaft allows you to customize the height for different tasks or user preferences. If you need flexibility in shaft length, Product B provides that adjustability. Product A offers a simpler, fixed structure.
Line Feed System
Product A utilizes a Rapid Reload head, which allows you to quickly and easily load new cutting line. This system is designed for straightforward line replacement. Product B features a patented Powerload technology where you feed the line through the head and push a button to wind it automatically. It also includes a bump-feed line advance for on-the-go trimming. Product B offers a more advanced, automated reloading experience. Product A relies on a manual but quick reload mechanism. Both use 0.095-inch professional-grade line.
Cutting Swath
Both trimmers offer a 15-inch cutting swath. Product A uses a single 0.095-inch cutting line, while Product B uses a dual line spiral-twist 0.095-inch trimmer line. This dual-line configuration in Product B may provide slightly more aggressive cutting performance on thicker weeds. However, the overall width of the cut remains identical at 15 inches for both models. You will cover the same amount of ground with either tool. The difference lies in the line configuration rather than the width itself.
Runtime and Battery
Both tools deliver up to 45 minutes of runtime on a single charge when used with a 2.5Ah battery. Product A includes the 2.5Ah battery and charger in the box. Product B does not include a battery or charger in this variation, requiring you to purchase them separately. Both are compatible with all EGO 56V ARC Lithium batteries. The runtime performance is identical between the two. You get the same working time, but Product A provides the necessary power components immediately.
Motor and Vibration
Both trimmers are equipped with high-efficiency brushless motors. This motor type delivers low vibration, increased reliability, and a long lifespan for both products. Product B adds IPX4-rated weather-resistant construction to the motor housing, adding durability against moisture. Product A does not explicitly list weather resistance ratings in the provided data. The motor performance and efficiency are comparable. You benefit from reduced vibration and longer motor life with either choice. Product B has a slight edge in weather protection for the motor area.
Weight and Dimensions
Both trimmers weigh 7.4 pounds, making them equally lightweight for handling. Product A is 71.7 inches long and 5 inches high. Product B is 64.9 inches long and 9.84 inches high. The length difference is due to the telescopic nature of Product B, which can extend or retract. The height difference reflects the different head and shaft designs. You will find both tools easy to maneuver due to the identical weight. The choice depends on whether you prefer a fixed or adjustable length profile.
