Who it fits
Good fit for
You should buy this if you already own EGO 56V batteries. The shared platform makes this a cost-effective addition to your toolkit. It suits small to medium yards where a 15-inch cut is sufficient. The 7.4-pound weight is manageable for most users. If you need a tool that charges in 50 minutes, the included charger is a plus. The variable speed helps when you need precision around obstacles.
Who should skip it
You should look elsewhere if you need a wider cutting path. The 15-inch swath is narrow compared to some competitors. If you require longer runtime, the 2.5Ah battery may not be enough for large properties. You might want a telescopic shaft for better comfort, as this model has a fixed length. Also, consider the weight if you have mobility issues. The 7.4-pound unit is not the lightest option available.
Verdict: This trimmer is a solid choice for EGO users with small yards. It offers reliable performance and quick charging for light to medium tasks.
Key specs explained
Voltage: 56V
This voltage indicates the electrical potential driving the motor. Higher voltage generally means more power for cutting through thick weeds. You will notice stronger torque when the line hits dense vegetation. This spec helps you compare the tool’s raw power against other cordless trimmers in the same category.
Motor Type: brushless
A brushless motor uses electronic control instead of physical brushes. This design reduces friction and heat buildup during operation. You benefit from lower vibration and a longer motor lifespan. It also improves efficiency, allowing the battery to last longer. This is a key durability feature to check when shopping.
Cutting Swath: 15-inch
This measurement shows the width of the area the trimmer cuts in one pass. A 15-inch width is standard for edging and light trimming tasks. You can clear small patches of weeds or trim along fences quickly. Compare this width with larger models if you need to cover more ground in less time.
Battery Capacity: 2.5Ah
Amp-hours measure how much energy the battery holds. A 2.5Ah capacity provides up to 45 minutes of runtime on this specific tool. You can use this battery with other EGO 56V tools. Check this spec to ensure the runtime meets your yard size needs before purchasing.

The tool uses a 0.095-inch professional-grade line within its 15-inch cutting swath. This width balances coverage speed with precision, making it suitable for standard yard cleanup rather than heavy-duty clearing.
Controls include a variable speed setting, allowing you to match the motor speed to your specific working situation. The brushless motor contributes to low vibration and increased reliability, which likely improves comfort during longer sessions. The build focuses on practical utility, with the 15-inch size and 7.4-pound weight offering a manageable balance for most residential users. What To Check Before Buying
Before you buy this EGO Power+ ST1502SA, check your existing battery ecosystem. This trimmer uses the 56V ARC Lithium platform. If you already own EGO mowers or blowers, the included 2.5Ah battery works across all tools. You save money by reusing units instead of buying new packs. If you do not have EGO gear, you must purchase a compatible battery separately. The listing includes the CH2100 charger, which fills the 2.5Ah pack in 50 minutes. You may need extra batteries for larger yards to avoid downtime. The 15-inch cutting swath is narrow. It suits detailed edging and tight spaces better than wide-area clearing. It fits alongside heavier cordless lawn mowers as a precision companion tool. Maintain the brushless motor by keeping vents clear. Store the battery in a dry place.
