16-Inch vs 15-Inch EGO Comparison
Cutting Width
The EGO Power+ 16-Inch Carbon Fiber String Trimmer offers a 16-inch cutting swath. This wider path covers more ground per pass. The EGO Power+ 15-Inch Carbon Fiber String Trimmer provides a 15-inch cutting width. The one-inch difference affects how many passes you need for larger areas. If you have dense weeds or a large lawn, the extra width saves time. For tight spaces, the narrower model may feel more manageable. Both widths are effective for standard trimming tasks.
Battery Capacity
Battery capacity determines runtime between charges. The 16-inch model ships with a 4.0Ah battery. This larger capacity supports up to 60 minutes of runtime. The 15-inch model includes a 2.5Ah battery. This smaller capacity offers less total runtime on a single charge. Both tools use 56V ARC Lithium batteries and are compatible with the entire EGO ecosystem. If you need longer continuous operation without swapping batteries, the 4.0Ah option is superior. The 2.5Ah battery is lighter but drains faster.
Line Feed System
Line feed systems affect how you maintain the trimmer line. The 16-inch model features both POWERLOAD and LINE IQ technologies. LINE IQ auto-senses and feeds line for a continuous cut without bumping. POWERLOAD allows easy line reloading by pushing a button. The 15-inch model includes POWERLOAD technology for simple line refilling. It does not list the auto-sensing LINE IQ feature. The auto-feed system on the 16-inch model reduces interruptions during use. This makes trimming faster and less tedious for extended periods.
Shaft Design
Shaft design impacts comfort and adjustability. The 16-inch model has a telescopic carbon fiber shaft. You can quickly adjust the length to fit your height for better ergonomics. The 15-inch model uses a carbon fiber split shaft. It does not mention telescopic adjustment capabilities. A fixed-length shaft may require you to bend more if you are taller. The adjustable shaft on the 16-inch model offers better comfort for users of varying heights. Both shafts are durable carbon fiber construction.
Warranty Coverage
Warranty terms provide long-term protection. The 15-inch model explicitly lists a 5-year tool warranty and a 3-year battery warranty. The 16-inch model mentions a limited lifetime warranty for the carbon fiber shaft. It does not specify the tool or battery warranty terms in the provided data. Clear warranty terms help you plan for repairs. The 15-inch model offers transparent coverage for both the tool and battery. The 16-inch model highlights shaft durability but lacks explicit battery warranty details here.
Which EGO String Trimmer Should You Buy
Users wanting maximum cutting width per pass
The 16-inch model covers a wider swath. This extra inch helps you clear weeds faster. It includes a larger 4.0Ah battery for longer runtime. You get up to 60 minutes of use. The LINE IQ system feeds line automatically. This reduces interruptions during heavy trimming tasks.
Budget conscious buyers needing basic performance
This 15-inch model offers solid performance at a lower entry point. It includes a 2.5Ah battery and charger. The 15-inch cutting width is sufficient for smaller yards. It features the same durable carbon fiber shaft. The POWERLOAD system simplifies line replacement. This is a practical choice for light to medium duty work.
Tall users needing adjustable shaft length
The 16-inch model features a telescopic carbon fiber shaft. You can adjust the length to fit your height. This ensures comfortable use without bending over. The 15-inch model has a fixed split shaft. The adjustable option reduces strain on your back and shoulders during extended trimming sessions.
Users prioritizing extended battery runtime
The 16-inch model ships with a 4.0Ah battery. This provides up to 60 minutes of runtime. The 15-inch model includes a smaller 2.5Ah battery. If you have a large yard, the larger capacity helps you finish the job. Both use 56V power, but the higher amp-hour rating matters for duration.
