6 Best Alternatives to the EGO Power+ 56-Volt 15" String Trimmer (2026)

How each alternative compares

EGO Power+ 15-Inch Carbon Fiber String Trimmer

The EGO Power+ 15-Inch Carbon Fiber String Trimmer shares the 56-volt platform and 15-inch cutting width, ensuring battery compatibility with your existing EGO tools. It uses a 2.5 Ah battery like the original kit. The main difference is the shaft material. This model features a carbon fiber shaft, which reduces weight significantly compared to the 18.3-pound combo kit. It weighs just 7.28 pounds. It also includes the POWERLOAD automatic line feed system, removing the need for manual bump-feeding or reloading. You give up the included leaf blower and charger. This option suits users who want a lighter, more durable shaft for extended trimming sessions without carrying extra weight.

Greenworks 60V 16-Inch Cordless String Trimmer

The Greenworks 60V 16-Inch Cordless String Trimmer offers a wider 16-inch cutting swath, covering more ground per pass than the 15-inch EGO model. It runs on a 60-volt system, which is slightly higher than the 56-volt EGO platform. Like the original, it includes a 2.5 Ah battery. The design prioritizes lightweight handling, making it easier to maneuver than the heavier EGO combo kit. It features a quick line reloading mechanism for efficiency. You trade the included blower and the specific EGO battery ecosystem for a broader cut and a different voltage standard. This trimmer is a practical choice for users who prioritize cutting width and ease of use over the versatility of a blower combo.

WORX 40V 15-Inch Trimmer and Blower Combo

The WORX 40V 15-Inch Trimmer and Blower Combo mirrors the original by including both a trimmer and a blower in one package. However, it operates on a 40-volt system, which is lower than the 56-volt EGO power source. It maintains the same 15-inch cutting width. The build uses a carbon fiber shaft for durability and reduced weight. While the original kit emphasizes high air speed for the blower, this WORX model focuses on quiet operation and balanced handling. You accept lower voltage for a potentially quieter experience and a different battery ecosystem. This kit is ideal for users who want a complete yard care solution but prefer a lighter, quieter operation over maximum raw power.

EGO Power+ 16-Inch Carbon Fiber String Trimmer

The EGO Power+ 16-Inch Carbon Fiber String Trimmer steps up the cutting width to 16 inches, providing a broader swath than the 15-inch original. It retains the 56-volt system and 2.5 Ah battery capacity, ensuring full compatibility with your existing EGO batteries. The key upgrade is the carbon fiber shaft, which offers enhanced durability and a lighter feel compared to the standard shaft in the combo kit. It features the POWERLOAD line system for convenient refills. You do not get the blower attachment found in the original kit. This model is best for users who prioritize a wider cut and a lightweight, durable shaft for efficient trimming without the need for leaf blowing capabilities.

WORX 15-Inch Brushless 40V String Trimmer

The WORX 15-Inch Brushless 40V String Trimmer shares the 15-inch cutting width with the original EGO kit but operates on a 40-volt platform. It distinguishes itself with a larger 4.0 Ah battery option, offering longer runtime per charge compared to the 2.5 Ah battery in the EGO combo. The trimmer weighs only 9.42 pounds, making it significantly lighter than the 18.3-pound EGO kit. It features a brushless motor for efficiency. You give up the included blower and the higher 56-volt power output. This option is suitable for users who already own WORX 40V batteries and want a lightweight, long-running trimmer for moderate yard work without the bulk of a combo kit.

EGO Power+ 15-Inch Telescopic String Trimmer

The EGO Power+ 15-Inch Telescopic String Trimmer keeps the 56-volt system and 15-inch cutting width, ensuring compatibility with your EGO batteries. It features a telescopic shaft, allowing you to adjust the height for better ergonomics and comfort during use. This model uses the POWERLOAD line system for easy reloading, similar to the premium EGO options. It weighs just 7.4 pounds, much lighter than the 18.3-pound combo kit. However, it does not include a battery or charger, and you lose the leaf blower function entirely. This trimmer is ideal for EGO battery owners who need adjustable height for comfort and convenient line management, prioritizing trimming performance over all-in-one versatility.
