Specs Compared Side by Side
Cutting Width
The EGO Power+ 16-Inch Carbon Fiber Trimmer Attachment offers a 16-inch cutting swath. The EGO Power+ 15-Inch Cordless String Trimmer provides a 15-inch cutting width. Both tools use professional-grade 0.095-inch trimmer line for clean cuts. The one-inch difference may matter for large yards where wider swaths reduce passes. You should choose the wider option if you want to cover more ground per stroke. The narrower trimmer is still effective for standard yard maintenance and edge work.
Build Material
The EGO Power+ 16-Inch Carbon Fiber Trimmer Attachment features a lightweight and durable carbon fiber shaft. The EGO Power+ 15-Inch Cordless String Trimmer does not list its shaft material in the provided specifications. Carbon fiber is known for reducing weight and increasing stiffness. This attachment weighs just 3.4 pounds, making it easy to handle for extended periods. The full trimmer weighs 7.4 pounds, which includes the motor and battery. You may prefer the lighter attachment for less fatigue during long jobs.
Power Source
The EGO Power+ 15-Inch Cordless String Trimmer is a complete unit powered by a 56V battery. It includes a 2.5Ah battery and charger in the package. The EGO Power+ 16-Inch Carbon Fiber Trimmer Attachment is designed to work with EGO Multi-Head system Power Heads, such as the PH1400 or PH1420, which are sold separately. This means you need an existing power head to use the attachment. If you already own an EGO power head, the attachment is a versatile addition. If you need a standalone tool, the complete trimmer is the better choice.
Line Feed System
The EGO Power+ 16-Inch Carbon Fiber Trimmer Attachment uses POWERLOAD technology when paired with the PH1420 power head. This allows you to feed line by pushing a button. It also supports Rapid Reload with the PH1400 head. The EGO Power+ 15-Inch Cordless String Trimmer features a Rapid Reload head for quick line loading. POWERLOAD offers automatic line extension, which can save time. Rapid Reload requires manual loading but is straightforward. Your choice depends on whether you prefer automatic feeding or manual control.
Motor Type
The EGO Power+ 15-Inch Cordless String Trimmer is equipped with a high-efficiency brushless motor. This motor type provides low vibration, increased reliability, and a long lifespan. The EGO Power+ 16-Inch Carbon Fiber Trimmer Attachment does not have its own motor, as it is an attachment for a power head. The motor performance of the attachment depends on the power head you use. Brushless motors are generally more efficient and durable. If motor reliability is a priority, the standalone trimmer has a clear advantage in this category.
